How can I tell if I have a top load Direct Drive Washer?

First turn the water to the washer off and unplug it or disconnect the power.

Then simply tip your washer back or forward (what ever is easiest) and take a look underneath.

All top load Direct Drive Washers manufactured by Whirlpool all have the same style Drain Pump, Drive Motor and Transmission. They also all come apart the same as shown in the video below.
